Burn Permits
Open burning is permitted with a permit between March 1st and November 30th unless a ban is in effect. Permit holders must follow specific guidelines, if you have any doubt or questions please contact us before burning.

Items that are PROHIBITED from burning
- Food wastes
- Animal droppings
- Treated lumber
- Styrofoam
- Plastics
- Dead animals or animal parts
- Pathogenic wastes
- Hazardous materials
- Materials resulting from salvage operations
- Automobile or aircraft bodies and interiors

- Wastes generating noxious odors
- Poultry litter
- Tires
- Rubber material
- Tar paper
- Chemicals

- Asbestos or asbestos-containing material

Burning without a permit.
Only two types of burning are allowed without a burn permit.
1. Burn Barrels: Burning in a burn barrel is allowed, however it must have a screen (spark arrestor) covering the top and be a minimum of 10 feet from flammable materials.
2. Recreational and heating fires: Small recreational fires like a camp fire or construction heating devises are allowed.
*No PROHIBITED material may be burned in either case. See list above.
